Great Outdoor Depot Size Guides

Choosing the perfect fit for your outdoor clothes will depend on the cut, fabric and styling of the garment. Its important to get measurements right for clothing, footwear and hats, especially as you might be wearing the garments all day.

When layering clothing for outdoor activities, especially in cold weather, it's essential to consider how the layers will fit together comfortably. If you plan on wearing multiple layers—such as a base layer, thermal layer, mid-layer fleece, and an outer jacket—you'll want to size up strategically. When buying the outermost layer, choose a size that accommodates the layers beneath without feeling too tight or restrictive. For example, if your chest measurement typically places you in a size medium for a single layer, you might need to consider a large for outer jackets or shell layers. Also, ensure that your mid-layers, like fleece or puffer jackets, fit comfortably over your base layer without compressing it too much, as this can reduce insulation effectiveness. Keep in mind that mobility and comfort are key, especially if you'll be wearing these clothes all day in varying weather conditions.

Measuring Information for all Our Clothing

Remember to take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes.

(*) Chest: measure your chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms and across shoulder blades, holding the tape level (dont hold your breath). Be sure to cross over the shoulder blades.

(**) Waist: measure the natural waistline.

Inside Leg: measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn, allowing for your hunting boots or shoe

(***) Circumference: measure around your head from just above the eyebrows where the hat will be at its widest, where it sits on your head
